Underwater search and recovery is like an exciting treasure hunt beneath the waves! It's the adventurous process of locating and retrieving items hidden on the seabed. Sometimes, finding a lost object can be quite a challenge, but the reward of successfully recovering it brings an incredibly euphoric feeling. It's no wonder that this specialty is highly beloved by adventurous souls.
 

In this specialty, you'll learn the initial essential steps, such as gathering data and background information, as well as carefully planning your search operation. During four dives, you'll:

• Practice various search patterns using compass navigation and natural landmarks.

• Locate both large and small objects using a variety of search techniques.

• Learn how to use a lift bag and employ other methods to recover large or heavy objects.

• Plan a search operation for a lost object and then successfully locate and safely recover it.
   

To make underwater searching even easier, it's a great idea to become a PADI Navigation Specialist first. This way, you can confidently embark on your underwater treasure hunt!
